'The Earth Lion'

Description

Meet Leterram giganteus; The Earth Lion. This is the first organism in my project based upon another planet named P317-Cenestraemus. Don't worry the official map will come out soon.

FACTFILE:
Distribution: The sandy areas throughout the Hani Desert and Deaths' Rampage desert.
Niche: Apex predator
Size: 4.1 m long (13.5 ft), 100kg (15.5 stone)
Lifestyle: Ambush predator, waiting beneath the surface of the sand.
Description: Leterram is large yet somewhat aenemic in appearance. It did not have eyes, ears or a nose but incredible ultra-sound sensors.
How it took down Prey: Leterram relies on chance. For 98% of it's life it hibernates in a dark hole. On it's back are 'scrubs' which are almost identical to those that feed most of the herbivores in such deserts. What the herbivore does not know is that these arent infact vegetation, but stinging cells similar to those of the earths deadliest jellyfish, but deadlier. Only then will the sensors wake the Earth lion up, it will spring out of it's hole and eat the juicy victim. then it will go back to sleep, as if nothing ever happened. It gets all it's water from the rain, which is soaked up by it's 'plants'.
The 'plants' on the Lions' back are incredibly 'clever'. They mimic the real shrub in every aspect. They will wilt in times of drought and grow greener in times of plenty.
Sex: Every year on  Cenestraemus (2.2 earth years) a male will go looking for a female, dragging itself arround the desert. As it is immune to it's own poison it will walk around the desert tugging at shrubs until it has found a fellow female, They will mate and then the male will trace it's way back where it came from. The female will then walk until it has found a suitable spot, dig a hole and wait for the baby to be born and leave. No Leterram ever abandons it's hole.

Please give me feedback, let me know if this is a good idea, and give me ideas for other crazy wildlife on Cenestraemus. Thanks, and goodbye!

I loved this so much, I even made some other animals that coexisted with it!
